Do you remember getting one of these in your Christmas Stocking and spending the festive season in a darkened room killing monsters?

Melbourne garage band TV Dreams has just released their debut self titled LP along with a DOOM inspired 3D music video for the EP track 'Hard to Say'.
The film was created by animator Jack Thepsourinthone. Whilst it has a fantastic DIY vibe this was no simple shoot, with numerous green screen sessions shot by fellow Melbourne artist Ivy Trim, and a laborious process by Thepsourinthone to design and render the 3D graphic animation.
TV Dreams is the project of top indie artist Odin Franklin who performed all instruments on the Album and fittingly plays them all on the music video as well.

The retro vibe of the film really suits the music. Garage Rock is a genre that can name great artists from the last 5 decades including The Sonics, The Reatards, Japandroids, Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees. Every once in a while the music press declare a "revival" of Garage Rock, but it is always bubbling hot and spicy under the surface of the main stream dross, taking influences from where ever it likes. TV Dreams album is full of this flavour and songwriter Odin shows the depth of his love for music with a clever and multi-faceted approach to the tracks. The music is wistful but never forgets to move and inspire the listener. It is a lovely Album to listen to from go to woe and a lot of fun.
The Album benefits from two amazing music professionals based in Brisbane, producer Matt Cochran (Birthday Boy Studios/Walken) with the tracks mastered by Brock Weston (BUGS).
TV Dreams is part of a great scene of young indie acts across Aus which includes Brissy bands like VOIID, Walken, Sweater Curse, Sydney acts like Imaginary People, Supersoakerr, Del-Slackers and Melbourne acts like Garage Sale, Rat Hammock, Rhysics, Merpire and more.
With the lockdowns sort of now finished Odin is getting his band together and 2022 will see a bunch of shows so stay tuned! Listen to the LP here...
